Do you feel stuck in your life? Are you feeling like you are standing still? Most likely you are stuck in your comfort zone. Our ego (the part of the brain that wants to protect us) doesn’t want change. It screams danger when change occurs. It causes us to pull back and step back in line with what we have always known and always done.

In 2015, I stepped out of my comfort zone in a big way. I started a business. I had to put myself out in front of people. I had to stand up and speak in front of strangers. I had to learn how to battle my own mind. I had to use every skill I had learned up to that point to get through those first years. And each day is still a learning opportunity. I have become comfortable with lessons. Lessons repeat themselves until we get from it what is meant for us. Do you have a situation in your life that keeps recurring? Is there a message for you in the lesson you are missing?

Stepping out of your comfort zone and getting used to being uncomfortable involves releasing and letting go consistently of the things not meant for you. You have to simply walk away. Walking away is hard as sometimes you walk away from things that seem to be amazing opportunities. Sometimes you walk away from all the things you have known for years. Sometimes you have to walk away from people. Yes, I said people. You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Sit with that a moment. Are those people challenging you to rise to a new level or are they pulling you down to their current level? That’s a hard one to come to grips with but if you are to rise to where you want to be you must learn that not everyone is meant to walk with you.
