Founded in 2015 by Audrey Blackburn, our firm is built on 30+ years of hardcore accounting expertise, with a proven track record in the nonprofit and small business arenas. Audrey started this journey remotely from her home. She built a thriving practice by offering customized solutions to her clients.
In August 2020, we made a bold leap—expanding our team and relocating to our current headquarters in Advance, North Carolina. Today, we don’t just balance books; we offer a customized solution that encompasses bookkeeping, advisory and tax. We are always evolving to meet our clients’ growing needs.

Audrey Blackburn
Founder & Accountant
Audrey Blackburn is the Founder of Blackburn Consulting, Accounting & Tax, a firm she launched in 2015 with a passion for helping small businesses and nonprofits gain clarity and confidence in their finances. What started at a desk in her home has grown into a trusted accounting and advisory firm serving clients across the country.
With more than 30 years of accounting experience, Audrey brings both expertise and real-world understanding to the table. She specializes in working with small to mid-sized businesses and nonprofit organizations, helping leaders move from financial chaos and uncertainty to sustainable growth and stronger decision-making. Her approach is practical, honest, and education-focused because she believes clients should truly understand the story their numbers are telling.
Audrey holds a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Accountancy from Gardner-Webb University. Over the years, she has served in leadership roles within both small businesses and nonprofits, giving her firsthand insight into the challenges business owners and nonprofit leaders face every day.
Clients value Audrey’s honest, straightforward approach and her ability to break down complicated financial concepts into clear, practical guidance they can confidently act on. She is passionate about helping women-owned businesses and women-led nonprofits build stronger financial foundations and move from a place of scarcity to sustainability and growth.
When she’s not working with clients, Audrey enjoys spending time with her husband Will, family, and soaking up the North Carolina sunshine outdoors. You’ll often find her working in her yard, reading on her deck, and spending time with their pets Luna, Tigger, and Sugar.
Rebecca Chesson
Office Support Specialist
Rebecca Chesson joined Blackburn Consulting, Accounting and Tax with a strong background in business operations, accounting, and administration. With over 25 years of experience supporting small businesses, Rebecca brings a detail-oriented approach and a passion for helping businesses stay organized, financially sound, efficient, and growing.
Rebecca has worked in a variety of leadership and administrative roles throughout her career, giving her extensive experience in bookkeeping, financial processes, account management, customer service, operations, and day-to-day business management. She enjoys helping business owners better understand their finances while building relationships that make clients feel confident, supported, and cared for.
In addition to her accounting and business experience, Rebecca is also the owner of Annie Glenn, a small-batch candle company based in Davie County, NC. Having owned and operated multiple small businesses, she brings a firsthand understanding of the challenges, responsibilities, and rewards business owners face every day. She understands the dedication, resilience, and hard work it takes to build and grow a successful business.
Rebecca is married to James and enjoys spending time with her son, reading, creating new candle scents, and loving on her cat. Outside of work, she can usually be found working on creative projects, supporting local businesses, and enjoying the small-town charm of Davie County.
